Background
I started a portfolio of properties with my husband 6 years ago. Together we saw the opportunity to invest in property which necessitated finding quality tenants. We decided to find our own tenants and have successfully let all our properties quickly and satisfactorily with minimal void periods. Six years on we have never used a High Street agent. At the beginning of 2008 I had three flats to let simultaneously. All the properties were successfully let and tenants moved in within two weeks.
My husband has handed over the running of the properties to me and this has given me the opportunity to create my own business as a letting agent. Thanks to the enormous knowledge and contacts he has acquired from working in the construction business I am in a good position to be able to do this. I enjoy the whole process, including getting to know my tenants and I am on good terms with all of them some of whom have been renting from me for 2 or 3 years.
Aim
People find themselves living in rented accommodation for many different reasons and stories abound of bad tenants and landlords, but my belief is that there are many good tenants and landlords and that with professional referencing and clear communication from the outset they can be successfully brought together. My aim is to bring this about by offering a professional, cost effective and fair deal for both landlords and tenants.
The key to a successful let is PREPARATION and COMMUNICATION.
